A unique site in France!
At once an old boat station and a lock classified as a Historic Monument. Between 1838 and 1896, before the construction of the Canal Bridge, navigation was done between this lock (left bank) and that one of the Combes (right bank). The river crossing was dangerous during high water and maneuvers were extremely painful and lengthy. Hence the idea of the canal bridge!
Now a bucolic and quiet place where we can rest in the shade of trees . Walks, bike, boat and visit … Chatillon sur Loire, old town rich in architectural heritage.
